SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15

Recognizing the public service of the Honorable Robert K. Holliday, former legislator, publisher and distinguished West Virginian.

Whereas, The Honorable Robert K. Holliday was born February 11, 1933, the son of the late Kathleen and J. Kelvin Holliday in Logan County, West Virginia. He received his education at West Virginia University, the West Virginia Institute of Technology and Marshall University. He is a former newspaper publisher and owner; and
Whereas, The Honorable Robert K. Holliday was elected to the House of Delegates in 1962 and served three terms. In 1968, he was elected to the Senate where he served until 1972. He was reelected to the Senate in 1980 and was reelected consecutively until 1994 when he resigned from the Senate; and
Whereas, During his tenure in the West Virginia Legislature, Honorable Robert K. Holliday quickly became known for his profound compassion for his fellow man, true concerns for the human rights of all and his true belief in those rights by the proclamation that all men are created equal; and
Whereas, The public life of the Honorable Robert K. Holliday, a man whose compassion and dedication to his beliefs that the rights of all citizens without classification of society, should be dealt with fairly in all aspects of governmental and judicial treatment; therefore, be it
Resolved the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the outstanding dedication and compassion of the Honorable Robert K. Holliday, former legislator, publisher and distinguished West Virginia whose complete dedication to the people he represented should not go unnoticed and that his compassion and dedication for equal rights for all citizens has left a myriad of legislation, conceived and executed by him for the betterment of all society in West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby requested to forward a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Robert K. Holliday.
